Nearly all of the extracts here are from sources that I originally stumbled upon in the course of tracking down lost Tewkesbury pubs, hotels, inns and beerhouses. However, it seemed such a waste to keep this information hidden from those who would not normally come accross it, so here it is. This is an ongoing project and more information will be added, and existing presentation improved upon, regularly and often. Most of the stuff here relates to local tradesmen and private residents, especially those involved with pubs, inns and beerhouses, who appeared in various local directories and other publications. The other stuff is also mostly trivial in the sense that it does not describe major historical events or Tewkesbury Abbey history. The contents here are aimed at local people who are probably well aware of the basic history Tewkesbury in its historical context. I have tried to be accurate in transcribing the information but anyone serious about the subject should consult the original sources. The information presented here, except for the licensed trade and alley details, is really not much more than lists of names and places; no attempt has been made to write a history, but it may reward the browser with something perhaps relating to their own past.
